California-focused PEO for small and midsized employers; acquired by Vensure Employer Solutions in 2024
Our take
We see Emplicity as a sensible shortlist name for California employers in the 20 to 100 employee range who want a service team that knows state wage and hour rules cold. The California-only history is the real differentiator, and the Vensure acquisition gives a small brand access to larger carrier and technology resources. The credential picture is the thing to press on: the IRS active CPEO list does not show Emplicity today and we found no ESAC listing, so if your CFO or lender requires either, ask in writing which legal entity your agreement runs through and what certifications that entity holds. We would also ask, before signing, whether servicing stays with the legacy Irvine team or moves to shared Vensure systems.
• California small and midsized employers
• Owners who want a named service team rather than a call center
• Nonprofits, restaurants, and professional services firms in CA
• Companies facing California-specific wage and hour exposure
• Buyers who require an IRS-certified CPEO today
• Multi-state employers with little or no California presence
• Tech-first buyers wanting a modern all-in-one HR platform
