Spirit HR Review 2026

Oklahoma City founder-led PEO, ESAC accredited, built around named service teams instead of a call center

Founded: 2015·Best for: 10–150+ employees (the site segments 10–50, 50–150 and 150+; sweet spot 10–150)·Quoted per client; not published (request-a-cost-analysis model)

Our take

Spirit HR is the kind of regional, founder-led PEO we look at when a client in Oklahoma or the surrounding states wants to know exactly who is answering the phone. The ESAC accreditation matters here: for a privately held firm that publishes little financial detail, third-party financial assurance is the credential doing the most work, and the firm has carried it since 2016. The gap to flag is CPEO: without it there is no federal tax certification and no wage-base restart mid-year, which is a real dollar issue for a mid-year switch. We would ask for the state footprint, the benefit carrier lineup and the workers comp program structure in writing before comparing a quote against a national PEO.

What Spirit HR does well

  • ESAC accredited since December 2016, which the company obtained in its first year of operation
  • Leadership team carries HR outsourcing experience dating to a predecessor Oklahoma PEO founded in 1992
  • Explicitly commits to named contacts rather than a call center model
  • Full-scope workers compensation with safety analysis and certificate handling, useful for trades and physical-work payrolls
  • Single proprietary portal, Spirit Connect, covering payroll, benefits enrollment and onboarding

Watch-outs and limitations

  • Not on the IRS CPEO list, so no federal payroll tax certification or wage-base restart on mid-year transfer
  • Small firm with limited public disclosure: staff count, worksite employee count and state footprint are not published
  • Benefits menu is described by coverage type only, with no named carriers or plan-design detail published
  • Proprietary platform is unlikely to match the depth of national HCM stacks
